		<description>WHO GETS TO FLY is a multichannel video installation meandering through a cultural history of birds. The project examines the primary human-avian contradiction, that birds are deployed as both symbols of settler empire and emblems of anti-colonial resistance.&#38;nbsp;[work-in-progress]

		<description>
SYDNEY &#38;amp; KIM is a short film about the demise of a close friendship, exploring how sickness and debility transform what we hold most dear.

After 25-year old Sydney is released from the hospital following a major facial surgery, her best friend Kim cares for her at a motel during her recovery. As Kim’s flirtation with the motel manager escalates, Sydney’s resentment begins to boil over. Through intimate moments in their motel room, Sydney and Kim navigate the implicit expectations of their friendship. Shot on Super 16mm film.[2023]Exhibitions:NewFest LGBTQ Film Festival

Over the last several years, I’ve installed several iterations of SULKA’S DAUGHTERS, a multichannel video eulogy to transfeminine ancestors who found moments of euphoric performativity in contexts of exploitation. The project consists of re-edited moving image loops from early transexual porn movies starring Sulka, one of the first transsexual porn stars. An interview with one of Sulka’s old friends accompanies the video to give context to 1980s transfemme experience in Los Angeles.

Version 3 features a loosely re-staged set from a scene in Sulka’s Daughter [1984]. The viewer enters a scene in which Sulka watches several of her own performances that are being simultaneously screened on a row of television sets. [2023]

&#38;nbsp;In Version 1, polyester fabrics hang throughout the exhibition space, describing sculptural aspects of the moving image projections. As they touch the images of artist and pornstar, the public must consider their own relationship to gendered and sexualized performance. Meanwhile, the spectators encounter the artist’s desire for an embodiment through her desire to merge with Sulka. There is an impossibility in the allure of seeking a trans mother.[2022]Exibitions:
